A SEXUAL MEMORIAL

Dear Mrs. P.
In spite of the great loving
And all the special eroticism of
Sweet unfettered sex,
We both knew that what we felt
Could never be.
So you acted out of your neurosis
And I out of my fear.

My fear?

With you,
I could soar without airplanes and
know ecstasy without orgasms.
I had to leave to woman
Who could make me feel that good.

You?

I don't know. You never said.
But once I supposed it was because
In the passionate throes of your orgasmic moments
You sometimes contemplated leaving the man who paid to keep you
For one who couldn't.
