COUNTRY DESCRIPTION
Thailand, situated in the middle of mainland Southeast Asia has a
population of 62 million. Bangkok, with a population of 6 million is the
capitol. The official language is Thai, although English is
understood in most major cities. The official currency is the Baht.
Thailand is slightly smaller than the state of Texas. The Kingdom
of Thailand, with its allure of Oriental Fantasy, offers visitors a
plethora of exotic adventure. Meals are very economical in Thailand.
The essential part of most meals is a plate of steamed or boiled rice.
Thai menus combines curry, coconut milk, lemongrass, ginger, basil, and
peanuts to enhance the taste of many dishes. A traditional Thai meal will
consist of soup, a curry dish, often with fish and vegetables all prepared
in such a way to bring extraordinary culinary delight.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS--Thailand
All visitors to Thailand must carry a valid
passport with proof of continued passage
(either a return or through ticket. Entry and departure must
be through one of the four major airports Don Muang in Bangkok, Chaing
Mai, Phuket, and Hat Yai or via train from Malaysia. If you wish to
enter Thailand through any other port of entry you should consult with the
Thai Consulate or embassy in your country re: entry via an "exotic port".
VISA REQUIREMENTS--Thailand
Visas are not required if you are staying less than 30 days and are a
national of one of 39 specified countries, including Australia, Canada,
Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and United States. If
you wish to extend your stay beyond 30 days, you should report to
Immigration Division of the Royal Thai Police Department. A 30 day
extension will cost 500Baht ($12 USD)
HEALTH:
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Thailand has no
local transmission in-country and is considered "NOT AN AFFECTED
AREA and is safe from SARS. No vaccinations are needed when
going to Thailand.

below. Most Passport Agencies accept applications only by
appointments. Be sure to call in advance. With some exceptions, most
Passport Agencies operate between the hours of 08:30 AM and 03:30PM.
